WHAT IS RENEW?

RENEW is a parish-based process of spiritual growth and development that responds to the call of Pope John Paul II to celebrate our entrance into the third millennium with renewed faith and increased vigor.

HOW WILL RENEW WORK?

RENEW will work by forming Small Christian Community (SCC) groups to pray, reflect on Scripture, and to share how the Scripture relates to everyday living. The themes of RENEW will be based on the Sunday liturgies. Through the SCCs, parishioners will experience the Spirit of God and go through the process as a community of faith.

WHAT ARE SCC groups?

They are groups of 6 to 12 people that will meet for about an hour and a half, once a week for six weeks. During the six-week period, they will get to know one another, reflect on the scripture and share faith.

WHAT is Mission 2002?

It is a 'look ahead' to what's to come in the upcoming RENEW season. It will be three consecutive evenings filled with prayer, reflection, sharing, activities for children, followed by food and fun.

Let us face the challenge of the 21st century together...
Pope John Paul II has asked Catholics everywhere to celebrate this third millennium with an intense renewal of faith. This fall Incarnation parish will be using the tools that RENEW to become Small Christian, Faith-filled Communities committed and connected to God, each other, and our world. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to bless and guide our parish and the renew coordinators as preparations are made to begin this spiritual journey of renewal together.

RENEW PRAYER:
Gracious God and Father, We are your people embraced by your love. We thank you for your presence with us throughout all time. As we celebrate the 2000 years since the birth of Jesus, your Son...Create us anew. Liberate us from all that keeps us from you. Send your Holy Spirit, enabling us to recreate our world and restore justice.

Heal us from every form of sin and violence. Transform us to live your Word more profoundly. Reconcile us so enemies become friends. Awaken us to the sacred; Nurture our relationships; Enliven our parishes; reunite our families. Fill us with joy to celebrate the fullness of life. Empower us to be a community of love growing in your likeness by the grace of Christ our Lord. Amen.
