Welcome to Incarnation Church! I have the joy of beginning my pastorate here as we prepare for the new Millennium. Time is sacred because God has chosen to enter human history and make it holy. This is most evident through the "Incarnation" of Jesus, his Son. We have literally counted time from the nativity of the Lord.
Because the Christian Church throughout the world celebrates the 2000th anniversary of the birth of the Lord, a "holy year" has been set aside which recalls the practice of "Jubilee", the biblical time of rejoicing. In Old Testament times, every 50 years was set aside as a celebration of God's special favor. Slaves were set free, debts were forgiven. Reflective thought and willful action was given as a response to the lavish and unconditional generosity of our God.
Though still in the planning stages, Incarnation will join the Church around the world in "Jubilee". Our parish goals will be to continue to focus our attention to the areas defined by the parish at large: Evangelization, Worship, Religious Education, Community Formation, and Outreach. We will also endeavor to embark on a journey of parish Renewal, that we may continually respond to our generous God.
Plans are also in the works for a "Millennium Garden", a place of rest and reflection that will be an extension of our parish hospitality area!
We approach the Third Millennium confident of God's continued guidance and care and promise to respond in gratitude. Let the time of rejoicing begin!
Peace, Father Paul J. Hruby
