Dear Parish Family:
This Easter Season, a time which is ordinarily one of great rejoicing, continues
to be a time of trial and purification for all who love the Church. All of us have
experienced a multitude of emotion in recent weeks and months: confusion, bewilderment,
anger, and a sense of betrayal. While these are difficult times for us, there is great
hopefulness as we turn to Jesus, risen and victorious over darkness and death.
I personally would like to thank many of you for messages and words that have reflected
hope to me. I ask for your continued prayer for all of our Church, especially for
those who have been victimized. I also ask for your prayer for our leaders, ordained and lay, who are entrusted to facilitate the process of healing.
This weekend we have made available the pamphlets, "Respecting the Boundaries",
which state Archdiocesan policies regarding sexual misconduct and Church personnel.
Please take home a copy and read it. Though Msgr. Frilot, Father Pat, and I have
preached about the current scandal over the last few months, I thought it would be a good
idea to address any personal concerns that you may have. Therefore, I have scheduled
a meeting on Sunday, June 2, at 2 P.M. in the auditorium, for those who would like
to come and address any aspect of the situation at hand.
May the Spirit of Pentecost bring peace and healing to all our Church.
Peace in His Service,
~Father Paul
