WELCOME TO THE FAMILY PARTICIPATION/SERVICE HOUR PROGRAM!
The main concept of the service hour program is PARENT
INVOLVEMENT! Side by side with other
parents, we provide the building blocks for the INCARNATION FAMILY
SPIRIT.
The following guidelines are provided in order to help incoming families as well as those that have been with the Incarnation School community previously.
WHAT IS THE FAMILY PARTICIPATION/SERVICE HOUR PROGRAM?
When you registered your child/children for the school year, you signed an agreement to either pay the additional $500.00 or perform 40 hours of service. The Incarnation Service Hour program was designed to allow school families the opportunity to perform voluntary work at either the school or the parish in lieu of this additional tuition amount.
SIGNING UP
Those who chose to participate in the program will have numerous opportunities to sign up and participate in various activities which require volunteers. In addition to sign-ups on the first day of school, there will be several opportunities that will come up during the school year that will require the need for volunteers. Information regarding sign-ups for those events will be sent out in the Tuesday Home Messenger envelope that is sent with your child.
CHOOSING YOUR COMMITTEE OR WORKING GROUP
You may sign-up for any committee or working group that is in need of volunteers. Each committee requires specific hours and the number of hours vary per committee. It is important that you specify your availability in terms of days and hours. A telephone number where you can be reached should be indicated when you sign up.
There is a General Pool that covers a wide area of services that are needed and is the primary list used for event volunteers as needed.
The Chairperson of each committee will contact you and meet with you to give specific schedules. Putting your name down on any specific committee sign-up list does not guarantee your place in that committee.
In the event that no chairperson contacts you, the Home Messenger envelopes will provide several announcements of opportunities throughout the school year. Each family should make an effort to contact any committee chairperson should they have difficulty finding a working group to belong to.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The Family Participation/Service Hours Program runs from June 1st to May 31st. These dates have been chosen for accounting purposes. It allows the school an opportunity to communicate with the families who have not met the 40 hour requirement and collect the balance due, which must be satisfied prior to the beginning of the following school year.
Any slips not submitted by the first of June for all services rendered until the 31st of May will no longer be accepted for credit.
All hours performed after June 1st will be credited to your account for the following school year.
REPORTING YOUR HOURS:
Each family should receive a Family Participation Program booklet. If you do not have one, you may ask for one from the school office at any time. When performing service hours, complete a slip, have it signed by the chairperson of that event and return it to the school office as soon as possible or via Home Messenger envelope. It is important to keep your service hours records with the chairperson. DO NOT hold on to your yellow slips until you have completed all the 40 hours and submit them all at the same time. You must submit them as soon as possible.
Please make sure that the yellow slips you submit have the description of work/service done. Do not combine different committees/services done in one slip. Please clearly print your family name (or childıs/childrenıs last name if different from yours), date of service, childıs/childrenıs grade level, and signature of your chairperson. Use the stub attached to each slip and retain for your records.
We do not donate hours to other school families as they must do their part like everyone else.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING FAMILY
PARTICIPATION/SERVICE HOURS:
Any hours not completed by May 31st will be billed at $25.00 per hour. It is each parentıs responsibility to submit their service hour slips. Records can only be as accurate as they are received. All families that have agreed to participate and do service hours are required to submit their yellow slips. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE.
