July 30, 2006Incarnation Catholic Church and North Glendale UMC have been neighbors for eighty years.
Earlier this month, Incarnation Church purchased the property and buildings of North Glendale UMC. Though escrow on the property closed on July 13, in this simple ceremony a representative from the United Methodist Church will formally present a representative from Incarnation Catholic Church with the keys to the church.
Pastors Reverend Paul Hruby of Incarnation Church and Reverend Wayne Walters of First Methodist Church of Glendale are delighted to have been part of the process of the sale and to see the site continue in Christian ministry.
Key Ceremony:
First United Methodist Church Representative:
I give you these keys on behalf of the First Methodist Church of Glendale. In these buildings we have baptized children and adults, conducted divine worship, married couples and memorialized the dead. We have studied scripture and discussed current events in the light of of these scriptures. We have played and dined together. Our prayers and best wishes are with you in your ministry and in the name of jesus Christ.
Incarnation Catholic Church Representative:
On behalf of Incarnation Church, I receive these keys. We will always remember your long ministry at this site and will honor it. We foresee a continuation of the rituals of baptism, weddings and divine worship, and the ministry of funerals and memorial services. We too intend to study scripture and discuss how to apply them to our current life. We also plan to play here and dine together. We will pray for you in your continued ministry at the First United Methodist Church of Glendale.
