Music Education Opportunities
In addition to weekly classes in music at Incarnation with a vocal music emphasis, there are many local weekend and afternoon instrumental and vocal music programs.
- The Colburn School is a wonderful local music school with an extensive program for children in vocal and instrumental music. Coming up this year:
- Colburn Children's Choir The Colburn Children's Choir is dedicated to the study and performance of outstanding choral music. The group regularly performs at Zipper Hall and other venues in the Los Angeles area. - School of Performing Arts Serves artists of all ages with classes in music, drama, and early childhood arts education, taught by exceptionally talented instructors. An open-enrollment school, CSPA does not require academic degrees or competitive auditions to enroll in its courses, which cover a broad range of styles, age levels, and degrees of difficulty. more information
- Verdugo Young Musicians Association a youth orchestra that takes students at various levels of ability. A wonderful program. Check out more information
- Youth Orchestra During the school year, they meet most Tuesdays 4:30-6:30 at the First Congregational Church in Glendale
- Notre Dame High School Sherman Oaks Saturday Band for Grade School Children. A low cost opportunity for your child to learn to play an instrument. Meets Saturday Mornings during the school year. more information
- Incarnation Children's Choir sings for the 9 AM Mass each Sunday and rehearses Saturday mornings 8:30AM at St.Michael's Hall. Contact Mary Hearn at 818-246-7502 for more information.
- Angel Choir a new choir for children ages 4 - 7, pre-Communion age, who want to sing as part of the liturgy but may be too young for the Children's Choir. Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays from 9:30am-10am in the Church . The Angel Choir will participate in one Sunday Mass every month. For more information, call Susan Chakmakian at (818) 237-0607
- Other Choirs
Depending on level of ability, interest and reliability young men and women are invited to participate in Incarnation's regular liturgical music ministry. See more information HERE . Instrumentalists are welcome.
