Safeguard Children & Vulnerable Persons Committee

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Incarnation Parish are committed to protect our youth and all vulnerable persons. The Safeguard Committee is charged with auditing these parish efforts, to make sure that Incarnation is meeting Archdiocesan and national guidelines, and to ensure that parish staff and volunteers are trained in the issues of child abuse and how to respond to an allegation of abuse. The training program we use at Incarnation is VIRTUS Training which is available at Incarnation and at local parishes several times a years.

We are taking many step in order meet Archdiocesan standards; your help is needed:

• All staff and volunteers who have direct contact with children need to be fingerprinted. This need only be done once.
• All staff and volunteers, including parents of children in our schools and religious education program and all those who have direct or indirect contact with children should take Virtus training. The course needs to be renewed after four years. Certification should be brought to the parish center.
• All staff and volunteer leaders of any organization or ministry should read these guidelines and sign and return this receipt form . This would be an annual recertification.

The committee meets monthly and consists of representatives from the school, religious education, the pastor, parish staff and representatives of parish ministries and organizations. If your organization is not represented, or if you would like to help, please contact the committee.

April is Child Abuse Protection Month. All are invited to a Rosary for the Healing of Victims which we hold each April.
