Boy Scout Troop 101
Troop Patches and Awards


The troop received the "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" Patch for camping out during a major earthquake. They were at Big Bear Lake during the Hector Mines 7.1 Quake in October, '99


The Troop received patches for competing in the Verdugo Hills Council Camporee 2000. The Hawk Patrol earned a first place ribbon in teambuilding, a third place in first aid and orienteering. The Eagles won a second place in pioneering.

The scouts and leaders received High Adventure Team patches for completing training backpacks to Cooper Canyon, Henninger Flats, Mt. Lowe, Little Jimmy and Tom Lucas. We are committed to camping every month and having frequent backpack outings.


Most of the troop has received the Catholic Millennium Award. Nine boys received the Ad Altare Dei Award April 29, 2001.


Most of the troop attended the Catholic Scout Retreat on October, 2000.

The troop was declared a Quality Unit by the Verdugo Hills Council. We went to the Holcomb Valley Scout Ranch for summer camp. Many of the boys earned the Mt.Lowe and Little Jimmy segments for the the San Gabriel Trails Weekend Backpack Award. Some of the boys made it to the top of Mt.Baden-Powell (9,399 ft.)

Troop 101 won top honors at the Verdugo Hills Council Camp-o-Ree 2001 Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area
Ravenz First Place Overall Captain Division, First Place in "Yautsman" competition
Hawks Second Place Overall, First Place in "Shipwrecked" exercise
Eagles earn first place ribbons in "Don't Tread on Me" exercise and third Place in knot-tying.

We went to Whitsett Scout Camp for summer camp.

12 boys and leaders earned the Historic Trails Award for participation in the Los Pobladores Historic Hike along the El Camino Real between Mission San Gabriel and the Pueblo. Later they camped near the old trail.

We earned the Quality Unit Award for the 3rd time in a row.
