Playground Rehabilitation project at the La Canada United Methodist Church Children's Center
March 16th, 2002 - 3.5 hours - 9 people
Fix up the west end of the play yard:
- remove old iron swing set poles:
- unbury poles to the cement base
- adults use blow torch to cut it up into moveable pieces
- recycle iron
- rake area for fragments
- load rocks from the Tujunga Canyon
- arrange nicely into childrens' fort



March 29th, 2002 - 6.5 hours - 10 people
Load and re-cover entire play yard with new clean sand:
- accept delivery of sand
- load into wheel-barrows
- dump and rake
- cover all areas up to at least three inches

April 13th, 2002 - 3.5 hours - 11 people
Paint wall mural, refurbish childrens' playhouse, finsh loading sand and raking for roots, paint chips, other objects:
- draw "grass" on wall
- outline copies of childrens' artwork
- paint the wall
- sand, scrap, remove nails, paint chips from playhouse
- repair parts of the playhouse, shutters, windows, etc.
- paint white, so children can later draw new designs,
- apply more layers of sand in "low spots"
