Incarnation/Holy Family Boy Scout Troop 101

Big Bear/Hector Mine Earthquake

The 7.1 Hector Mine Earthquake woke us up early on Saturday morning (10/16/99), but we still had enough energy to hike up the Cougar Crest Trail above the north shore of Big Bear Lake. After the hike, we toured the "Discovery Center" and after lunch, did a little fishing. It got chilly in the night (about 36 degrees). All slept well and we returned home on Sunday.

The boys earned the "Shake, Rattle and Roll" Earthquake Patch for being on a camping trip during a major earthquake.
