The liturgy, then, is about the action of God's own people, each with different offices and roles, each office and role, from that of bishop and priest to that of usher and sacristan, one of service, not of privilege, a mirror of Christ who washed the feet of his disciples and instructed his followers to imitate his example of service. -USCCB

There are multiple roles in the liturgy which are exercised by the laity who place their time and talent at the service of the liturgical assembly: acolytes (altar servers), lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, cantors, choir members, instrumentalists, greeters, and ushers. Others contribute their time and talent to planning and organizing the liturgy, to keeping the church and the vestments, vessels, and appointments clean and well-ordered or to providing decorations that reflect the spirit of the liturgical feast or season.

Do you want to be involved in Liturgical Ministry as a lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, greeter, or usher?

Attend Module A of the Liturgical Ministry Formation process. This session on Liturgical Ministry and reservation and is the starting point for those: 1) being formed in ministry for the first time at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2) who were in ministry at another parish and would like to serve at Incarnation, or 3) are now in ministry but have not yet attended this module.

The Module B session is the hands-on training scheduled after Module A for candidates joining the lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, greeters, and ushers.

Module C focuses on the theological and spiritual dimensions of the lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, greeter, and usher roles. The date for this is determined in Module A.

If no trainer is available for a module due to illness or other reasons, the module will be cancelled.
